LACRT Bulletin #5

LACRT BULLETIN 5                                                                        27th March 2020

Dear Friends and Neighbours,

Things are moving ever more quickly as this crisis develops. Two weeks ago, we began to organiseour collective community response to the coronavirus. We have made great progress. This is entirely down to the willingness and determination of the many volunteers and contributors who have stepped up to this difficult challenge. Lots of talented, committed and generous people have offered to help. We thank you all for your enthusiasm and energy, without which we could not have reached this point.

We are now able to lay out clearly for you what we will be able to do, starting from next Monday 30thMarch. We are determined to support the most vulnerable and self-isolating in our community, whether through age or infirmity. It is being run by some of the dozens of people who have answered our call for assistance.

On Monday 30th March, we will launch: Deliver 2 U’

This is designed to help and support the most vulnerable and isolated members of our community,as coronavirus spreads through Fife. Its underlying principle is that we will do our best to ensure thatthose who need help obtaining essential supplies get it from us.

It is not intended that we handle medical prescriptions, as there are legal restrictions on what we can do. Some people may already have arrangements in place that meet the requirements.

Our HELPLINE number – 0800 999 3465 – appeared on our previous Newsletter 1, and this has been operational during the past week. Calls to this number allow people to record their request for help. Our volunteer call managers will return the call to make sure that we understand the nature of the concern, and from what area it came. This means we can ensure that the right area coordinator can make local contact.

We have established 5 local areas, each of which will have a lead coordinator:

New Gilston and Woodside

Newburn and Drumeldrie

Upper Largo

Lower Largo

Lundin Links

On Monday, we will tell you the names of the lead area coordinators through our 2nd Newsletter. Thiswill be distributed on Monday – social distancing rules apply for volunteers! (Monday 11 am at The Stables, Upper Largo Church)

Thanks for all you have done to get us this far. Without your efforts, we would not be in this position.

Please stay well!
